Remembering 9/11

It was a sunny morning and I was getting ready for work while listening to the morning news when all of a sudden the newscaster broke the story of how a plane had hit the World Trade Center.  I watched in disbelief and horror while they replayed that scene over and over.  The word terrorism did not enter my mind until I watched live the second plane hit and it was then that I realized this was no accident and America was under attack.  I remember crying for the thousands of people trapped in the towers who had already lost their lives.  When I got to work, many employees were glued to either a TV or our computers to stay updated.  I watched in shock as the towers fell and knew that thousands more had just lost their lives.  I felt so much pain for the families of the victims, the first responders, the fire department and police.  To then learn of the Pentagon being struck and the plane down in Southern Pennsylvania brought more tears and wondered what was happening in our world that someone would do something so destructive and hateful to our country was beyond comprehension.  The next few days with all planes being grounded was so eerie and if you heard a lone helicopter, you became panicked thinking your area was the next target.   It was the most tragic event I can ever remember happening within America and still stays with me today.  I will never forget 9/11, the aftermath and the lives shattered.  I pray for all the families whose lives were forever changed by one day.
