RivCo Felon Arrested For Firing Shots In The Air: Sheriff's Department

The suspect, allegedly under the influence of drugs, tried to run away from deputies, according to police reports.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A convicted felon from Moreno Valley was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of firing a gun in the air while he was under the influence of drugs, authorities said.

Just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to the 12000 block of Heacock Street near Ironwood Avenue for reports of gun shots. When deputies arrived, they located the suspect, 30-year-old Angel Michael Rivas, and tried to detain him, but Rivas fled on foot, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

After a short foot chase, Rivas was taken into custody.

Rivas was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail on suspicion of reckless gunfire, being a felon in possession of a loaded firearm, illegal possession of a gun, possession of a gun without a serial number, and being under the influence of controlled substances, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

No injuries were reported.
