RivCo Man Accused Of Fatal Stabbing During Street Attack: Police
The suspect is being held without bail at Smith Correctional Facility.
RIVERSIDE, CA — A 32-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing another man during a confrontation at a major intersection near UC Riverside is expected to appear in court Thursday.
Elias Julian Calderon of Moreno Valley was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail Monday night on suspicion of murder, according to the Riverside Police Department. Calderon is being held without bail at Smith Correctional Facility.
Police said just before noon on Monday, the Calderon and victim, who has not been identified, were involved in a dispute at Chicago and University avenues,.

Police alleged Calderon stabbed the man at least once during the confrontation and then fled.
First responders arrived at the scene minutes after witnesses reported the incident. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Police said investigators learned Calderon was the alleged assailant and tracked him to a property on Hulen Place in Riverside where he was taken into custody without incident later that day.
