RivCo Student Arrested After Loaded Gun Found At High School: Police

Police said the student was removed from the campus and booked into Riverside County Juvenile Detention Center.

PERRIS, CA — A student was arrested after police found a loaded gun at a high school in Perris on Tuesday, police said.

The gun was confiscated around 2 p.m. at Orange Vista High School, and the student who brought the weapon was taken into custody, and booked into Riverside County Juvenile Detention Center, according to the Val Verde District Police Department.

"The safety of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We remind everyone in our school community to continue following the 'see something, say something' principle. If you observe anything suspicious or concerning, please report it immediately to school staff or law enforcement," officials said.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
