Sheriff Names New Captain to Cabazon Station

Captain Paula Burch will command the Cabazon Station, which provides law enforcement services for the San Gorgonio Pass area.

The following is an announcement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department:

Sheriff Stan Sniff promoted Lieutenant Paula Burch to the rank of Captain on Monday, January 25, 2016. Captain Burch will command the Cabazon Sheriff’s Station on February 4, 2016. Captain Burch replaces Captain Madden, who will command the Special Investigations Bureau.

Captain Burch began her law enforcement career as a city police officer in 1983. She started as an Officer with the Blythe Police Department before transferring to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department in 1985. Her initial assignment was as a patrol deputy at the Lake Elsinore Station in 1985.

In 1993, Captain Burch promoted to the rank of Investigator and transferred to the Jurupa Valley Station. She served on the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction (RAID) Task Force later that same year. Captain Burch promoted to Sergeant in 1994 and transferred to the Robert Presley Detention Center (RPDC). During her tenure as a Sergeant, she also worked assignments at both the Perris Station and Moreno Valley Police Department.

In 2002, Captain Burch was promoted to Lieutenant. During her time as a Lieutenant, she served in a variety of assignments at the Southwest Station, Southwest Detention Center, Robert Presley Detention Center, Perris Station, Court Services, and most recently at the Coroner’s Bureau.

Captain Burch will command the Cabazon Station, which provides law enforcement services for the San Gorgonio Pass area, the City of Calimesa, and the Morongo Band of Mission Indians.

Captain Burch holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from California Baptist University, and a Master of Public Administration also from California Baptist University.

Captain Burch and her partner, Linda, reside in the City of Riverside.
