Smoke In Pass Area Due To Cherry Valley Brush Fire

The blaze was reported shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday.

CHERRY VALLEY, CA — A brush fire in Cherry Valley scorched 5 to 10 acres Wednesday afternoon, but no structures were immediately threatened, a Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson said.

The blaze, dubbed the Hannon fire, was reported at 3:52 p.m. near Orchard Street and Kehl Canyon Road, according to Cal Fire's Rob Roseen.

Updates on containment efforts were not immediately available.

No injuries were reported in the fire that's burning across a sparsely populated area.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, Roseen said.

Thunderstorms were forecast in the area, and a flash flood warning remains in effect through 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
