SR-79 Head-On Crash Leaves 3 Injured, Snarls Morning Commute

LAMB CANYON, CA — A head-on crash in Lamb Canyon left three people with major to minor injuries Tuesday morning, and forced a detour for motorists as the California Highway Patrol investigated the incident.

The crash was reported at approximately 7:55 a.m. on state Route 79, north of Gilman Springs Road. According to the CHP, the driver of a white Buick LaCrosse was headed southbound on the roadway when for unknown reasons crossed over the double yellow lines of the center divide and crashed head-on into a northbound white Honda Accord.

The Buick driver and passenger were transported to the hospital with major injuries. The Honda driver was transported with minor injuries, according to the CHP.

In the crash aftermath, traffic was diverted to the Gilman Springs Road on- and off-ramps until the roadway could be cleaned up.

"If your were caught in the traffic associated with this incident, we thank you for your patience while our officers investigated this scene," the CHP said.
