Suicide On IE Freeway: Victim Publicly Identified
The man was discovered lying behind a gold Saturn sedan on the right shoulder; a handgun was on his chest.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — The man who died from an apparent suicide on an Inland Empire freeway Friday afternoon has been identified by the California Highway Patrol.
Alexander Wendell Wolverton, 33, of Victorville was found around 2:37 p.m. on the right shoulder of the westbound SR-60 transition to southbound I-215, said CHP Public Information Officer Juan C. Quintero.
Wolverton had shot himself in the head, and was discovered lying behind a gold Saturn sedan on the right shoulder; a handgun was on his chest, Quintero said.

Calls about the incident began coming into the CHP at approximately 2:21 p.m. and although medical aid was rendered when crews arrived, Wolverton died at the scene.
During the investigation, a SigAlert was issued and the westbound SR-60 transition road to southbound I-215 was closed. The roadway was reopened by 5 p.m.
