Thousands Of Marijuana Plants, Product Found South Of Pass Area

ANZA, CA — During five search warrant services carried out Thursday by deputies in the unincorporated area of Anza, approximately 8,852 marijuana plants and 4,500 pounds of processed marijuana were discovered, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported.

In addition to sheriff's department deputies, Riverside County Code Enforcement and California Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel joined in the law enforcement raids.

The marijuana was found in indoor and outdoor structures, but the sheriff's department did provide exact addresses. According to the department, the cannabis "was eradicated."

In addition to the marijuana, a large cache of rifle and pistol ammunition was seized, the sheriff's department reported.

No arrests were announced.

There was no word on what led law enforcement to suspect marijuana was being grown at the unnamed facilities.
