Traffic Alert: SR-60 In Badlands Partially Closed For Hazmat Crew

BEAUMONT, CA — The westbound Moreno Valley (60) Freeway was partially shut down Friday just west of Beaumont to allow a hazardous materials crew to mop up remnants of a crash from earlier this week. The No. 2 lane was shut down about 9 a.m. and drivers should expect delays until at least 5 p.m., according to officials.

"Be advised - expect delays on WB 60 in the 'Badlands' east of Gilman Springs for hazmat cleanup until 5 pm today - use alternate routes (I-10 or SR 79," Caltrans officials said on Twitter.

A hazmat team was at the location in between Beaumont and Moreno Valley when a commercial truck overturned Tuesday night, but did not have time to finish the cleanup.

"There's residual fuel, oil and transmission fluid that they apparently have to get off the roadway surface," Caltrans District 8 spokeswoman Terri Kasinga told City News Service.

Kasinga recommended that motorists use an alternate route, such Interstate 10, to travel westbound through the San Gorgonio Pass to avoid delays.
