Triple Chocolate Peppermint Trifle
This week, homemade Triple Chocolate Peppermint Trifle!
We're back from the July 4th holiday and as promised in our little bio paragraph, we're here today with a favorite recipe of mine (or should I say, of my family's).
We like this Trifle so much that it's become a tradition at our house and I'm somewhat famous with friends of friends for the dish which vanishes within minutes of "going live". We usually reserve the desert for Christmas, but it's good anytime you feel like going big with your sweets. Check out the associated pictures to see what I mean.
The main recipe can be found here, but I've made a few changes of my own over the years to suit my tastes.
This recipe is deceptively simple. The mousse and pudding are the most difficult parts and they are surprisingly easy to mess up. The most important things to watch out for, I have found, are the creation of a proper ice bath and making sure that the covering of the pudding really sticks to the top of it.
Also, if you care about presentation I highly recommend that you invest in a proper trifle dish. Mine is too wide and therefore the picture of the side only captures the pudding and mousse sections.
Email me, sophiasconfections@gmail.com with specific questions about how to put this wonderful desert together for your next party.
For next week, we're working on setting up an interview with The Sandwich Stoppe and The Haven owner Lamese Ugapo. Stayed tuned!
