Upscale Cigar Lounge FUMO is Open on East 6th in Downtown Beaumont

The new, upscale FUMO Cigar Lounge is open in downtown Beaumont on East 6th Street.

The business hopes to appeal to a wide range of cigar enthusiasts, including seniors, military, law enforcement and firefighters, co-owner Ruben Ortiz said Thursday.

"Basically we offer high-end cigars for your cigar afficionado, for your discriminating smoker," Ortiz said. "We don't sell cigarettes or single, cheap cigars. . . . Our prices run from $6 to high $20. We have a bit of everything for every budget."

The new lounge has a storefront area which includes access to a walk-in humidor with multiple brands of cigars on display, as well as the rear lounge area that features low-slung leather chairs, couches, pool table, card table, darts, and multiple flat-screen tvs.

"We're a membership-based lounge, so obviously we have our actual members, who pay a quarterly fee to be a part of the lounge," Ortiz said. "If you buy a cigar here, over $10, we'll allow you to smoke it in the back for the day, so that pretty much gives you a daily membership.

"If you buy something from us we'll allow you to sit in the back, relax, watch a game, whatever it is you want to do, and enjoy your smoke."

Membership benefits include private, personalized humidor lockers, complimentary cigar of the month, 10 percent discount on all merchandise, free wi-fi access, lounge access and guest privileges.

The business provides coffee and water but does not sell alcohol, Ortiz said.
