Van Overturns On 60 Freeway In RivCo Causing Traffic Jam: CHP

The driver of the van lost control, causing the vehicle to roll at least once in the slow lane, according to the California Highway Patrol.

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A van overturned Friday afternoon on the 60 Freeway in Jurupa Valley, triggering a traffic jam on the busy corridor, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 3:35 p.m. on the eastbound 60 Freeway near Rubidoux Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said the van's driver apparently lost control, causing the vehicle to roll at least once in the slow lane. An SUV was hit by debris from the van, causing unspecified damage, according to the CHP.

Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and found the driver of the van walking around uninjured. The occupant of the SUV was also uninjured.

The freeway slow lane was still blocked as of 4:30 p.m., obstructing traffic, the CHP said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
