Woman Hit by Truck in Yucaipa; 'Severe Head Trauma'

Police say the collision happened during Tuesday's heavy rainfall.

A Yucaipa woman was hospitalized when she was hit by a truck during Tuesday’s storm, sheriff’s officials said Wednesday.

The crash happened when Jade Evans, 25, was walking at 6:23 p.m. on Bryant Street near Yucaipa Boulevard, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

“The front of the truck struck Evans, causing severe head trauma,” sheriff’s officials said in a statement. “She was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center by AMR where she underwent surgery.”

The driver of the 2007 Dodge Dakota truck was identified as a male juvenile who also lives in Yucaipa.

Visibility was low at the time, as it was dark out and heavy rain was coming down.

“The collision occurred after dark, with heavy rain and flooding along the roadway edge,” the sheriff’s department said. “Several witnesses to the collision were located and interviewed.”

An update on Evans’ condition was not available.
