Woman Killed In Solo-Vehicle Crash On 215 Freeway In Riverside

Reporting parties told officers the vehicle flew over the center divider and overturned several times.

RIVERSIDE, CA — A woman was killed on the Escondido (215) Freeway in the Riverside area Sunday after a solo-vehicle crash.

The crash was reported at 2:10 p.m. Sunday at the 215 and Moreno Valley (60) Freeway interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol. A Sigalert was issued, shutting down the southbound lanes of the 215 at the interchange.

It was unknown how many occupants were in the vehicle, but the person who died was a woman, according to the CHP. It was not immediately clear if she was the driver of the vehicle or a passenger, and uncertain if she was buckled in.

It was also unknown whether speed or intoxicants played a role in the crash. The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
