Young Man Hit by Van in Beaumont; Intersection Closed [VIDEO]

The crash happened at Oak Valley Parkway and Beaumont Avenue.

A young man was hit by a vehicle in Beaumont Monday night, and police remain on scene investigating the incident.

The man, whose name and age aren’t being released at this time, was near the intersection of Oak Valley Parkway and Beaumont Avenue around 7:15 p.m. when he was struck by a van, which was headed eastbound on Oak Valley, according to Beaumont Police Sgt. Wann.

It’s not yet clear if he was in the crosswalk, the sergeant said.

However, the van appeared to have come to a rest just inside the lines of the walkway, while a backpack and broken skateboard lay in the middle of the intersection, next to blood stains.

“We don’t really have an idea of where he was exactly,” Wann said, adding that ”...there’s been no determination of cause or of fault at this point.”

The driver stopped at the scene and it cooperating with police, he said.

As of 9 p.m., the intersection remained closed at Oak Valley and Beaumont Avenue, and there wasn’t an immediate estimate available as to when it will reopen.

“It depends on the outcome and severity of his injuries, and whether we need to call out a traffic specialist come to the scene or not,” the sergeant said.

At this point, an updated condition on the man was not available.
