Young Woman Shot Dead In Beaumont, ID'd as Banning Resident

The coroner's office has publicly identified the victim as a Banning woman.

BEAUMONT, CA – A woman was shot to death as she sat in a vehicle parked in Beaumont over the weekend, officials report. She's since been identified as a 21-year-old Banning resident.

According to the Riverside County coroner's office, Jasmine Zuniga died at 11:39 p.m. Saturday at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital – about two hours after Beaumont police found her shot.

The Beaumont Police Department says it received a 911 call regarding shots fired around 10:26 p.m. in the 500 block of Chestnut Avenue.

"Patrol officers responded to the area, and within several minutes made contact with a vehicle in the 500 block of Michigan," police reported in a news release. "Officers located an unresponsive female suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries."

Police say they are investigating the murder, and few details about what may have happened are available at this time. No arrests have been made in the case, and no suspect information is available.

This is the first murder to happen in Beaumont since 2015, according to police.

"This investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time," police said.

Meanwhile, a GoFundMe account has been set up by family to lay Zuniga to rest.

"Unfortunately my sister has passed," Joey Wilson wrote on the page.

"We need all the love an help we can get to lay my wonder loving sister to rest. I hope u find it in your heart to support our family in this time of grief. God bless you all. An may god have mercy on her soul."
