All Aboard: Caltrain Announces Holiday Train Schedule

The 2015 schedule has been announced. Check the dates, stops and times.

Caltrain’s Holiday Train will make its way down the Peninsula the first weekend in December.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec. 6, family favorite Holiday Train will make its way from San Francisco down to the South Bay.

Decorated with tens of thousands of lights, the Holiday Train will visit nine Caltrain stations during the weekend. At each of the train’s 20-minute station stops, people can sing along with onboard carolers and a Salvation Army brass band. Santa, Mrs. Claus and their extended family -- including Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer -- will get off the train to greet kids and pose for pictures.

The train stations will offer free live entertainment.

Representatives from The Salvation Army and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program will be at every station collecting toys for local children. Since the inception of the Holiday Train, generous Bay Area residents have brought more than 50,000 toys to Caltrain stations.

“The Holiday Train is a unique opportunity for the young and young-at-heart to come together and, in the spirit of the season, make the holidays a little brighter for families in need,” said Caltrain Chair Adrienne Tissier. “We are proud to have the continued support of Silicon Valley Community Foundation in providing this magical experience.”

Earlier this year, Caltrain and Silicon Valley Community Foundation extended their partnership for an additional three years. The Holiday Train will continue operating through the 2018 season.

“The excitement and joy that the train brings to people when it pulls into the station really captures the spirit of the season,” said Emmett Carson, CEO and president of Silicon Valley Community Foundation. “We are proud to partner with Caltrain on the great local tradition of the Holiday Train.”
