BELMONT, CA — A vintage car parade, time capsule ceremony and drone show featuring local children's artwork will mark Belmont's 100th birthday Saturday.
Belmont Centennial Fest will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a vintage car parade starting at Chula Vista Drive and Alameda de las Pulgas. The parade will travel to a car show near Sixth and Ralston avenues, according to the city's announcement.
A centennial time capsule ceremony will follow at 3:30 p.m. in front of the Twin Pines Senior & Community Center.
The celebration will continue throughout Twin Pines Park with live music, food trucks, games and other activities. A drone show featuring Belmont youth art will cap the festivities at 7:30 p.m.
"Belmont's Centennial is a celebration of our entire community and a reflection of what makes Belmont so special," City Manager Afshin Oskoui said in the announcement.
The festivities commemorate 100 years since Belmont became an incorporated city in 1926.
The city is also encouraging residents to help reach a goal of 100 community celebrations during the centennial year. Gatherings can include neighborhood dinners, walks with friends, coffee meetups and block parties.
Several streets will temporarily close for the parade and evening drone show. Residents can review the city's street closure announcement before planning their trips.
Additional festival details and frequently asked questions are available on the city's centennial webpage.
