We are the only organization that delivers essential services and personalized support to connect the people living in poverty among us to the full range of resources and services they need. More than just ensuring our clients are fed, clothed, healthy, and housed, we help them create their own stability and remain an active, successful part of the community. Over recent years, many more families in San Mateo County have been thrust into poverty. From the COVID-19 pandemic, to increasing wealth inequality, to the impacts of inflation and the housing crisis, the financial pressures on our neighbors have grown. [Editor's note: The following is an excerpt from the Belmont City Manager's Weekly Update.] The remodeling of Ralston Middle School and sidewalk installation is scheduled for completion on Sept. 3, one week before the first day of school. After discussion with the BRSSD staff, the City of Belmont says it anticipate the new sidewalk access through the school will be restored and opened to public shortly after the scheduled completion date. According to BRSSD staff, the newly constructed sidewalk at Ralston is similar to the old one, with an additional walkway down the length of the parking lot to allow for safe pedestrian access to the crosswalks. Additionally, a fence has been added to prevent cars from pulling forward into the bus lane.
