Belmont Blue Strikers Win U8 World Class Indoor Soccer League Championships

The following information has been provided by coach Steve Kelley.

The Belmont Blue Strikers won the U8 World Class Indoor Soccer League Championships on Feb. 16.

A group of AYSO U8 boys mainly from Central, Cipriani, and Fox Elementary schools competed against a group of mainly CYSA (private competitive club teams).

The Blue Strikers finished as the # 2 seed with their only two losses to the Red Scorpions (5-10 and 6-9). Both the Blue Strikers and the Red Scorpions won their semifinal games and met in the Championship game.

The Blue Strikers were down 3-4 at halftime and rallied in the second half to win 8-5. Given that in the U8 AYSO league they do not keep score, this was the first championship for most of the boys.

The team was coached by Steve Kelley and Ralf Dossmann.
