Belmont Home Damaged by Fire

The residents returned from an evening walk to find their home on fire.

On Friday, December 19, 2014 at approximately 7:35 p.m., the residents of a home in the 2700 block of St. James Road came home after walking their dogs. As they entered the house, the residents found it full of smoke, immediately got out, and called 9-1-1.

Belmont Fire and Police units responded and firefighters found the fire was in a bedroom on the second floor. The fire was confined the bedroom and was quickly extinguished.

Belmont firefighters were assisted by crews from the San Mateo Fire Department and CalFire.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
