Belmont Police Arrest Woman for DUI After She Slams Into Pole

The crash happened Friday night in the 2600 block of Cipriani Blvd.

The following is a news release from the Belmont Police Department:

A Belmont woman was arrested for DUI Friday evening, after her car struck a utility pole in the 2600 block of Cipriani Blvd. The road was closed for approximately 90 minutes due to the collision.

On Friday, August, 22, 2014 at approximately 7:05PM, Belmont Police and Fire units responded to a report of a traffic collision in the 2600 block of Cipriani Blvd. Upon arrival, responders found that a 2013 Nissan sedan had collided with a utility pole. No other vehicles were involved and the driver, Meridith Riley age 48 of Belmont, was checked by Belmont Fire Department paramedics and was uninjured. During the investigation, Riley was found to have been driving while intoxicated and was arrested.

The 2600 block of Cipriani Blvd was closed to traffic during the investigation and while a PG&E crew checked the pole for damage. The damage was determined to be minor and there was no power interruption. The roadway was reopened to normal traffic at approximately 8:35PM.
