Belmont Police Dog, Nitro, to Be Honored Tonight
The K-9 officer has served the Belmont community for the past eight years at the side of his partner Officer Mike Chicas.
[Editor's Note: The following is an excerpt from a letter from Officer Mike Chicas, Nitro's human partner. Nitro will be recognized for his years of service to the community at Tuesday's meeting of the Belmont City Council. The public is invited to attend.]
K9 Nitro turns 10 years old in May and is healthy and doing well, but considering we were expected to work together for five years, it’s time he enjoyed retirement.
The City of Belmont will be recognizing K9 Nitro’s service on January 8, 2013 at their monthly City council meeting. The ceremony will be held in the City of Belmont Council Chambers and will begin at 7:30pm. Please join me in congratulating K9 Nitro and wishing him well on his retirement.
