Belmont Police Nab Two Suspected Prowlers

Police say it's all thanks to a timely call from a resident who spotted suspicious activity in the area.

BELMONT, CA- Belmont police are crediting an alert citizen with helping them bust two suspected thieves this week.

According to Belmont Police Captain Patrick Halleran, it all started around 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, when a resident called into 911 to report suspicious activity at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Old County. The resident had allegedly spotted a woman looking into cars in the parking lot.

“Responding officers contacted the woman as she was leaving the complex in a truck driven by a male subject,” Halleran said. “It was determined that the truck the pair were in had been stolen the day before from the East Bay.”

What’s more– inside the truck, police found construction tools that had been stolen from various East Bay locations, according to Halleran.

“The woman, Daniella Demichino age 26 of Hayward, was arrested without incident and cited for prowling,” the captain said in a news release. “The male, Kyle Searcy age 27 of Hayward, was arrested without incident for possession of stolen property and a warrant for a prior vehicle theft.”

The man was taken and booked into the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City, Halleran said.
