Belmont Releases Annual Audit
The audit for the 2010 fiscal year was approved at last week's City Council meeting.
Belmont officials have released the city's annual audit of the 2010 fiscal year, from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010.
The audit includes major initiatives the city accomplished during the year as well as its economic outlook and other financial information, according to Belmont City Treasurer John Violet.
And despite the grim economy, Belmont appears to be in good shape.

"They come in with a very objective eye," he said.
State law requires cities publish its annual audit within six months of the end of the fiscal year, and Belmont prides itself on completing it early.
"If we are not the first, we are one of the first within San Mateo County to have completed our annual audit and have it posted on our website," Violet said. "That speaks to timeliness of the audit."
And why get it done so quickly?
Accoridng to Violet, for Belmont itself.
"It's important for citizens to be able to see where their money is going," he said.
