Belmont Resident to Be Inducted into Women's Hall of Fame
The Hall of Fame is the county's premier showcase for women who make a difference in the community.
On Thursday evening, Jeri Fujimoto of Belmont, will be inducted into the 2012 San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fame.
Fujimoto is being recognized for her service to the community and for her inspiration of young people through her work at the San Carlos Department of Parks and Recreation and Special Needs and Youth Development programs.

In all, six women and two young women will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on March 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the South San Francisco Conference Center. Other inductees include a school superintendent, a youth symphony director, and an Episcopal priest.
2012 marks the 28th year of honoring women who make a difference in San Mateo County. The inductees are selected by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the Commission on the Status of Women.

"It is the great privilege of the Commission on the Status of Women to recognize the contributions and achievements of these exceptional women and young women," said Martina Tello, president of the commission.
"The Women's Hall of Fame is a reminder of the wealth of talent and generosity women bring to our county communities every day of the year," added Tello.
In addition to helping develop the San Carlos' Youth Advisory Council--one of the first municipal advisory boards in the state made up of students--Jeri Fujimoto spearheaded the development of the San Carlos Youth Center which provides a safe space for youth in the community.
Other 2012 Women's Hall of Fame Inductees:
Jeanine Asche of Half Moon Bay has demonstrated leadership and vision in promoting youth literacy through her work with the San Mateo County Library
Lynn Eastman Bowdish of Daly City, one of the first women ordained as an Episcopal Priest, has been serving Daly City, San Bruno and northern San Mateo County for the past fifty years.
Maria Meza De La Vega of East Palo Alto is the Superintendent of the Ravenswood School district and a visionary leader in the field of public education
Karen Musegaas Larson of El Granada, has made a difference in the lives of thousands of individuals through her work as a teacher, tutor, paralegal and site administrator for the RotaCare Coastside Clinic.
Sara Salsbury of Palo Alto, is the founder and Executive Director of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra
2012 Young Women of Excellence
Seema Chaudhry of Redwood City, is a Senior at Sequoia High School who demonstrates her passion for serving her community both in and out of school.
Karen Chee of Foster City, is the junior class president at San Mateo High School where she founded the Creative Math Club, and is a political cartoonist.
