Big Game Prep in Full Swing

Candlestick Park gets ready for crowds, and six area radio stations are set to air the 49ers game on Sunday.

Department of Public Works (DPW) crews in San Francisco this weekend are sprucing up neighborhoods around Candlestick Park as they prep for thousands of fans and visitors to descend on the area for Sunday's NFC championship game between the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Giants.

DPW workers on Saturday and Sunday plan to sweep away litter, haul away large, illegally dumped items and target graffiti in the neighborhoods around the stadium, according to a news release.

Crews are also surveying streets near the ballpark and filling potholes along well-traveled roadways. Public works teams are already planning for post-game cleanups, both around the stadium and other spots around the city, according to the department.

"DPW is committed to ensuring the public right of way is safe and accessible so that every visitor and fan has an enjoyable experience at this championship game," DPW's interim Director Mohammed Nuru said.

As always, residents and visitors are encouraged to call 311 to report litter or graffiti.

Those who cannot watch the game either in person or on a TV screen can catch all the action on six Bay Area radio stations, according to Cumulus San Francisco, which is airing the game on all its local stations for the first time. The game will air on KNBR 680/1050, 107.7 The Bone, KGO 810, KSFO 560 and KFOG 104.5/97.7. Listeners can tune in to KNBR starting at 9 a.m. for extra coverage, including live updates from the football field.
