Belmont's (Multi) Million Dollar Home Tour
What do three million dollars and some change buy you in Belmont?

For those of you who like to follow real estate or just milestones for that matter, the most expensive home ever sold in Belmont just closed escrow this week for $3,325,000.
What do three million dollars and some change buy you in Belmont? Last week it was a stunning four bedroom four bath 4,900 square foot home on four acres near the Belmont San Carlos border. What sets this home apart—besides the price—is its jaw dropping views from as far as the eyes can see—north to south and across the bay before the curvature of the earth impedes one’s vision.
While the median price for a home in Belmont hovers around the $825,000-$925,000 mark (depending on how large the homes which sold in a given month were), you might be surprised to know of the 29 homes that are currently for sale 13 of those are priced at over a million dollars with the median of those homes at $1,285,000.

So how’s the market?
That’s something we get asked every day. In fact we get asked that question as frequently as most people are asked the perfunctory “How are you doing?” to which they quickly reply with the typical response “Fine and you?”; and indeed most real estate agents reply instinctively that the market is great!, because they’re sure somewhere that it is.

Let’s face it you can’t blame real estate agents for chanting that mantra. It’s hard enough to be self-employed where every time you sell a home you’re potentially un-employing yourself, but with the market as fickle as it is and where consumer confidence is an oxymoron, agents need something they can latch onto and believe in—the product they are selling.
Next time, before you ask your friendly agent how’s the market, remember their answer will be predicated on their mood that day, and all days are predicated on how their escrows are going.
How’s the market? Great! And you?
