High Speed Rail Good or Bad for Belmont?
Peninsula Consortium of Cities say HSR "bad" for 4 different reasons.
I attended the PCC meeting last Thursday morning. This week's meeting was one of the most disappointing of those that I attended during the past year. Belmont's representative Christine Wozniak missed the meeting; the first time since I have been attending. The meeting started with a statement that they are opposed to HSR on the Peninsula. The other group represented by elected officials from other cities in San Mateo County (the "Partnership") is on record as being in favor of HSR on the Peninsula. Assemblyman Jerry Hill was in attendance but the members, each took so much time to condemn the project and members of the Authority that at 10:00 AM, the scheduled time for the meeting to end, Jerry Hill left. The Assemblyman is a key player in the Assembly, and chairs a key committee on HSR. I believe they missed an opportunity to hear his views on the subject and his opinion of the bills in the Senate and Assembly. I heard 4 different views with only the representative from Brisbane trying to get a consensus. Her view fell on deaf ears. What is your opinion on the HSR Authority's intent to build an aerial structure along the Caltrain tracks through Belmont? Good or Bad and Why?
