Jim Bigelow to Chair Chamber's Transportation & Traffic Committee

Belmont businesses need new and focused efforts on High Speed Rail, electrification of Caltrain, traffic on Ralston Ave. and El Camino Real, and circulation in the four new villages.

Last week I announced the appointment of Jim Bigelow as the Chairman of the Belmont Chamber of Commerce's newly formed Transportation & Traffic Committee. Jim's selection is, in part, due to the solutions he has provided for transportation and traffic challenges encountered by Belmont businesses over the years.

During the CALTRAIN grade separations at Ralston, Harbor Boulevard and Holly Street, Jim Bigelow worked with the Belmont and San Carlos chambers attempting to mitigate the impact on businesses during construction.  He has worked closely with Pam Rianda, a former Belmont City Council member, and San Mateo County Transportation Authority (SamTrans) board member.   In addition, Jim was very involved with Belmont and Redwood City officials in the upgrade/reconstruction of the Ralston Avenue interchange at Highway 101

He is active in C/CAG, CMEQ, and SAMCEDA. He was very involved in the passage of the 1998 Measure A for transportation projects in San Mateo County and its renewal for 25 years in 2004.

The Transportation and Traffic Committee will work with the Belmont City Council, city staff, governmental agencies and local businesses. Other chamber members appointed to the committee are:
