Loop Trail work continues Sat 9AM at the Dam

Waterdog Lake Loop Trail volunteer work

OK so I konw I've been saying for some time now that we are getting close to the finish.  Well we are making tons of progress and we are getting close to the initial finish line.

For at least a year now, people have been using this trail that is still under construction.  Because it was getting so much use anyway, we increased our efforts to getting as much of the trail safe and completed as possible.  Although there are still sections you need to be careful, we definitely are to a point where people of all ages are able to enjoy the trail.  Because of this we have changed the signs from "Closed do not Enter" to "Trail Under Construction."

One of the things that makes me happiest about this trail is everytime we work on it I see families with small children using it and often Grandparents with thier grandkids.  If this trail were intended to be similar to other narrow trails in the park, we would be done.  But we want the whole trail to be safe and fun for everyone (even though many individuals feel that way already).

So: We are still working on it.  The end is truly in sight, I've started a "final projects list" so that is a good thing.  The city is getting close to installing the bridge across the spillway at the dam to avoid the steep pavers there now.  We should be done digging before they finish that bridge.  We have installed temporary bridges on two of the three creeks the trail crosses and will be putting a final temporary bridge.

Please come out and join us in this community effort!
