Top 3 tips to take better pictures of your kids
Learn how to take better snapshots of your kids with these three simple rules.
Being a professional photographer, I love taking photographs. However, so do my clients and pretty much anyone else I run into! It’s so easy now a days to take photos with camera phones, point-and-shoot cameras, and non-professional cameras. Here are my top 3 tips to take better pictures of your kids when you don’t have a professional photographer around.
1. Use a flash – even in sunlight
It may sound counter-intuitive, but when you are in the sun, you should use the flash on your camera. Sunlight gives harsh shadows and not show off that cute smile of your little munchkin.

2. Use the Rule of Thirds
This is a fundamental photography technique and once you know the rule, you of course can break it. The Rule of Thirds say to take a photo and basically make a tic-tac-toe grid on top of it. Where your lines intersect, that is where you should place your subject.

3. Let your kids be silly!
Most kids I know don’t stand still and pose perfectly. They like to run around, be crazy, and have fun…my idea of a perfect day…so let them and snap away to get those fun moments!
And most of all…keep snapping away! That way you’ll have a book full of memories to look back on!
