Drinking and Singing over the Holidays

As a reminder during this holiday season, alcohol affects your vocal cords adversely.  It dries them out and makes the mucosal lining stick together.  This can create a raspy sound or cracking.

If you've got a big performance, singers should keep their systems clear of alcohol for 24-48 hours before singing, and drink lots of water afterwards!

If you are just feeling jolly after a couple and feel like bursting into song, well, more power to you!
