Man Tries to 'Entice' Girl, 12, to His Truck in Belmont: Police
Police are asking area residents with surveillance systems to check for images of an older 'rusty brown' pick-up truck with peeling paint.

BELMONT, CA- Belmont police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to lure a young girl to his truck before she took off running.
According to Belmont Police Capt. Patrick Halleran, the man pulled up alongside the girl on Hiller Street on Monday around 3:40 p.m., while she was walking home from the bus stop at Ralston.
"In the area of Hiller Street [and] Biddulph Way an older 'rusty brown' pick-up truck with peeling paint and possible ladder rack, drove up southbound on Hiller and pulled over by the girl," Halleran said in a news release.

That's when the man inside-- described only as a Hispanic male in his late 40s with straight, short hair-- tried calling the girl over to the truck, Halleran said.
"The girl reported that she began running toward her home and the subject in the truck made a U-turn and began to drive northbound on Hiller Street," he said. "The truck never approached the girl again and she made to her home safely."

Once safely home, the girl told her mother what had happened, who called police.
Now, police are hoping someone who lives in the area may have captured images of the suspect or his truck on home surveillance systems. Anyone who may have such images, or with any other information related to this case, is asked to call the Belmont Police Department at 650-595-7400.
