Mountain Lion Spotted In Peninsula Neighborhood

The sighting was reported Monday.

SAN MATEO, CA — San Mateo County officials on Monday alerted the community of a recent mountain lion sighting in San Mateo. The animal was spotted Monday morning in a local neighborhood and was not aggressive.

Officials say the sighting was reported around 9 a.m. in the 1300 block of Parrott Drive near Bel Aire Road.

"This area is located close to the animal's natural habitat," an SMC alert stated. "There is no cause for alarm but please be aware of your surroundings."
