Singing teachers and musicians do a lot of talking about resonance. What exactly is it and how to you use it?
Put simply, resonance is the way that sound waves bounce around the spaces and on the bones of your face, throat, and chest. By using your brain and body to most effectively and efficiently place your resonance, you will be able to achieve the fullest sound for your body.
The best place for resonance in musical theatre and pop styles is at the front of the face around the eyes, nose and sinuses – the area called by many singing teachers as the “mask” or the “resonance chambers.” You can feel your nose vibrate when you are in these spaces. Enjoy!
