WHEREAS, During her distinguished tenure in journalism, Carolyn bore witness to monumental changes in perceptions of what constituted news deemed worthy of coverage and how such news should be conveyed to readers, as well as the corporatization of local newspapers and the increasing use of online platforms for news transmission, despite all of which--and remarkably--"Livin' Good" lived on for almost 20 years s a testament to Carolyn's consummate skill, community focus, and reader loyalty; and

WHEREAS, The abundant respect Carolyn earned for her

diligent and attentive community journalism and the meticulous care with which she crafted her "Livin' Good!! columns reflects not only her integrity as a journalist, but also her more than 50 years of wholehearted involvement in numerous civic and community affairs in San Mateo County, beginning 52 years ago when she helped to organize and lead two successful bond campaigns for building Skyline College, an educational institution she has ardently supported as an alumna; and

WHEREAS, Until she stepped down in July 2006 as a Commander, Carolyn also brought great distinction to herself by virtue of her 25 years as a longtime volunteer and public affairs officer with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 15 in South San Francisco, as well as through her devotion to volunteer efforts that honor and serve veterans, including, among notable others, as President of the Avenue of Flags Committee since 2009 which organizes various veterans' memorial ceremonies at the Golden Gate National Cemetery it San Bruno; and
