Nesbit, School-Force Big Winners in Sunday's Softball Tourney
Parents in Belmont-Redwood Shores give new meaning to the term "Moneyball."
Teams from Nesbit, Central, Sandpiper, Fox, Redwood Shores and Cipriani competed on Sunday to raise a few bucks for School-Force, and to be able to send their kids to school on Monday telling them THEY were the best team. (Nesbit parents handily won that honor!)

This is the third year for the tournament, which was originated by Fox dad Michael Dell'Aquila, and started out with just two teams. Dell'Aquila's forumula is simple---parents each pay an entry fee to participate, and that money goes to School-Force. Period.
Games were played at the Belmont Sports Complex and Nesbit Elementary School on Sunday morning. The top teams (determined by run differential) played in the championship game. Nesbit defeated Central 15-9 to claim bragging rights to this year's tournament.
Dell'Aquila says the totals aren't in yet for this year's tournament, but he estimates the softball players helped raise about $4,700.
"They provided great sportsmanship and flare for really hitting he ball.
Lots of players are going to be sore today. I'm in the process of planning another game that includes Nesbit vs. the parents of Ralston Middle school. With the additional funds going to School Force," Dell'Aquila told Patch on Monday.
"These types of events offer another way of bonding the community and donating to School-Force," he added.
