Sunday Special: Bay Area's Punk Scene Exhibit Today at Twin Pines

The exhibit will feature jackets, event posters and concert mementos of the 70s punk scene in San Mateo County.

Artifacts and memorabilia from the Peninsula's punk music community, loaned to the Peninsula Museum of Art by Recan Dinapoli and his friends, will be the subject of  a "show and tell" event Sunday, Jan. 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Twin Pines Art Center located in Belmont's Twin Pines Park.

Punk music has been a lively part of Peninsula nightlife since the 70s and continues today.

The embellished jackets, event posters, shirts, and concert mementos are a reminder that the youth of every generation creates and claims its own culture.

These shirts and jackets could be considered a forerunner of "wearable art".
