Three Arrested in After Burglars Surprised by Resident
The burglary suspects were arrested when a Foster City resident confronted the one of the suspected burglar attempting to get in.

Three people were arrested after a Foster City resident surprised someone attempting to break into a home Wednesday morning, according to police.
A young resident at a home in the 700 block of Matsonia Drive reported the confrontation with a suspected burglar just after 9:30 a.m., according to Capt. Frank Derris.

The resident heard the suspect attempting to get in through a side garage door. The suspect fled after encountering the resident inside the house, police said.
Police located and stopped a suspect vehicle on East Hillsdale Boulevard after the burglary was reported.

They arrested Manuel Vargas, 20, Alipeti Manu, 20, and a 16-year-old on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools. Vargas and Manu are East Bay residents but their exact city of residence was still being determined this afternoon, Derris said.
Police urged residents to immediately report any suspicious people in the neighborhood or someone who knocks on their door and asks for someone who doesn’t live there. Residents are encouraged to always respond to knocks on their front door, to let potential burglars know they are home, and to lock doors and windows when not at home.
