Treatment Deemed Successful in Decreasing West Nile Mosquitos at Marina Lagoon
San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District officials conducted treatments on the Marina Lagoon.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — Mosquitoes collected Sunday night from the lagoon area of San Mateo and Foster City have tested negative for West Nile Virus, according to San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District officials.
Health officials said in response to the discovery of infected adult mosquitoes earlier this month, the district conducted treatments on the Marina Lagoon.
According to health officials, there has been an 87 percent reduction of mosquitoes in the area, with no further samples testing positive for the virus.

No further adult mosquito treatments have been scheduled, however health officials said they will continue to monitor mosquito larvae in the area, and residents should take basic precautions against mosquito bites.
