Update: O’Neill and Sixth Ave. Reconstruction Project

The City of Belmont expects the project to be completed by the end of the month.

According to a newsletter released by the City of Belmont’s Department of Public works, the lengthy road reconstruction project at O’Neill and Sixth avenues is nearing completion.

Work this week will include the removal of the raodway section of Sixth Ave. and place forms for concrete improvments.

The area will remain closed to through traffic to reduce the amount of dust/mud created by vehicles traveling in the area. The City expects the road reconstruction portion of the project to be completed by the end of the month barring any unexpected weather delays.

Minor work will continue into November.

The scope of the project includes reconstructing the road and adding new sidewalks along with drainage improvements, a street light upgrade and extensive landscaping. In addition, Sixth Ave. will be realigned and narrowed to slow down traffic through the area.
