Warrant Issued for Man Shot by CHP Officer in Belmont
A warrant was issued for a man who allegedly ran with a knife toward a CHP officer before the officer shot him last year in Belmont.

BELMONT, CA - A warrant has been issued for a man who allegedly ran with a knife toward a California Highway Patrol officer, before the officer shot him three times in Belmont last year, San Mateo County prosecutors said.
Carlos Mora, 41, was out of jail on a $50,000 bond but Judge Barbara Mallach issued the warrant when Mora did not appear for a scheduled court appearance last Friday, prosecutors said.
On Aug. 28 of last year Mora was allegedly seen acting erratically and running in the median of U.S. Highway 101 near Ralston Avenue in Belmont.

The officer shot Mora in the eye, side and leg. Officers arrested Mora and had him taken to a hospital.
A car parked on the shoulder of Highway 101 allegedly had some of Mora's belongings in it as well as methamphetamine and a pipe.
A jury trial set for June 19 was canceled, prosecutors said.
Mora's attorney Gerritt Rutgers said he did not know where Mora was and would not comment on the case.
