      The Importance of Keys

     The key of a song refers to which pitch (notes A through G) the song is oriented around. So, If a song is in B, then it’s generally oriented around the note B. 

     Now, if you take a song that is written in B and transpose it (move it) to the the key of C, you’ve just made the song higher.  If you take a song written in B and transpose it to the key of A, then you’ve just make the song lower.

      When singing a song, it is CRAZY IMPORTANT to consider the key of the song.  Play around with the keys to find the one that makes your voice happiest.  It can be the difference between a not-so-great performance and an amazing one!
