Woman Found With Fatal Injuries On Belmont Road

Police say the woman was found suffering from fatal injuries, lying in a local roadway.

BELMONT, CA — Belmont police are working to determine what led to the death of a woman who was found with fatal injuries, lying in a local roadway. Police say she was found around 7 a.m. Monday along Cipriani Boulevard at Newlands Avenue. Someone had spotted her and called for help.

"Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying in the roadway, just south of Newlands Avenue," Belmont Police Capt. Patrick Halleran said in a news release. "The victim was treated at the scene by Belmont Fire Department paramedics and was transported to an area hospital, but did not survive."

Halleran said it appears that the woman, who has not been publicly identified, was walking north along southbound Cipriani Boulevard prior to being found in the street, according to a police investigation.

The San Mateo County coroner's office will identify the woman after contacting her family.

Police said they don't have any witnesses or evidence about the nature of the woman's injuries, which they did not specify. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (650) 595-7400.
