Would-Be Burglar Scared Off By San Mateo County Resident

Sheriff's officials say the suspect broke a sliding glass door and entered the home before ultimately fleeing.

SAN CARLOS, CA — San Mateo County sheriff's deputies are investigating a break-in at a home in San Carlos on Wednesday night that ended with the suspect fleeing upon learning that someone was home. It happened around 8:23 p.m. in the first block of Cypress Court, according to sheriff's Det. Salvador Zuno.

"The homeowner reported hearing glass break in her residence," Zuno said in a news release. "The homeowner investigated the noise and discovered someone had broken a glass slider in one of the bedrooms."

Deputies determined that a suspect or multiple suspects broke the glass door and entered the home, then fled once they realized that someone was home.
