Conveniently Located Medical Facility Includes Primary Care and Specialty Physicians, Urgent Care, Laboratory and X-Ray Capabilities New MemorialCare Medical Group Physician Office Building & Urgent Care Center Open in Los Altos MarketCenter in Long Beac
LONG BEACH, Calif., – MemorialCare Medical Group, an affiliate of MemorialCare Health System in Southern California, today is opening a new conveniently located medical building on Jan. 9 in what once was a Border’s store. The new facility includes primary care and select specialty care physician practices as well as an urgent care center and ancillary services, making it the newest health care destination in the greater Long Beach area. The new center begins with 10 physicians and is expected to double that number within the year.
Located at the corner of North Bellflower Boulevard and Stearns Street in the busy Los Altos MarketCenter in Long Beach, the two-story, 30,000 square-foot-building serves as a “one-stop” site for comprehensive health care services for patients and families. It offers primary care services, including physicians specializing in family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics and select physician specialties. Laboratory and digital x-ray services also are available on-site for patient convenience.
“The Los Altos facility expands upon MemorialCare’s strategy to offer physician practices and other medical services in convenient health care locations throughout Long Beach, the South Bay and Orange County,” says Diana Hendel, PharmD, CEO of Long Beach Memorial, Community Hospital Long Beach and Miller Children’s Hospital Long Beach. “Establishing this new medical facility is critical for the communities we serve. It addresses the need for additional primary care physicians today and in the future and serves as an access point for community members looking for comprehensive primary care and other health care services in one location.”

“This new medical building—serving families in Long Beach and surrounding areas—represents the future of how health care can be best provided in a community setting,” says David Kim, M.D., MemorialCare Medical Group’s medical director for the new Los Altos facility. “It is very conducive to patient care and incorporates many advanced physician office space designs, creating a warm and caring environment for our patients. Initially, the medical facility includes 10 primary care physicians plus a cardiologist, breast oncologist and rheumatologist. It also includes nurses and clinicians specializing in x-ray and laboratory services plus other clinical and support personnel. We anticipate the number of physicians growing to 20 in the future, providing easy access to care.”
The Urgent Care Center located within the Los Altos facility is one of only a few such centers in the region that treats minor illness and injuries as well as offering primary care and specialty physicians and will be open 365 days a year, including holidays and weekends. Parking is convenient and free.
