Art Deco Festival Photos: Handbags, Swimsuits, Unmentionables, Cars
The Queen Mary collaborated with the LA Art Deco Society to host the Art Deco Festival this weekend. Fun photos!
WackyCapNTrish are planning a trip from San Francisco to Long Beach. We call it the Finding and Making Things Game (The F.A.M.T.G.). We're going to be busy finding folks who make things... We'll call them Makers... and making things of our own to show. You can help us to do this by voting for us daily!
WackyCapNTrish Went to Visit the Queen (Mary) for the Art Deco Festival
It's really the best location for a multi-day Art Deco event. The Queen Mary houses an extensive collection of decorative arts. The most recent project in the continuous preservation efforts is the newly reopened Observation Bar. It's a great place to stop for drinks at night or a snack during the day.
I most enjoyed the vintage and vintage replica clothing and accessories. A shoe manufacturer who creates to actual designs of the time. Antique clothing including a great selection of handbags, period unmentionables and swimsuits (in wool, no less!). For those who prefer more modern fabrics with flavors of period patterns and designs there was even a Long Beach designer exhibiting!
Here's what I could glean from those who were there.
