Sound, Music and Instrument Making
For all boys and girls ages 8+

Discover the art and science behind sound and music. During this hands on class we will explore music, musical instruments, electronically generated sounds and how we interact with them every day.

Explorations will include experiments that demonstrate the science behind sound waves and amplification; learning about playing and even making musical instruments; and composing music and sound effects to enhance video productions.

Meet the Maker
If you missed the opportunity to meet Maker Scout Sam Russell at the Long Beach Scout-O-Rama...

Maker Scout Sam Russell (Eagle Scout) has a passion for music and the science of sound. He started playing music in elementary school and has studied music theory in high school. He plays several instruments including the guitar, piano and clarinet. While this class is open to all boys and girls ages 8-20, a music merit badge counselor will be onsite to verify requirements for those boy scouts who seek to earn the merit badge.

About Maker Scouts

Maker Scouts is a program in development, a new collaboration between Makersville and the Long Beach Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Maker Scouts serves middle and high school youth already enrolled in scouting programs.

This program joins and serves the Club Ten program of the Makersville/Long Beach BSA collaboration. Club Ten is a Maker program tailored to elementary and middle school students.
